Networking Through eSports

Brock University's Sport & Business eSports Networking Event

Following the cancellation of all in-person event for the 2020-2021 academic year, our club met to discuss virtual event options. By this time (three months onto lockdown) every club at every school had already hosted some sort of video game tournament. Additionally, we decided that a standard video game tournament would not match the club’s strategic direction of providing students with sport industry experience and networking opportunities.
After some discussion, we decided to create an eSports experience that would pair students and industry professionals together through competition. The inaugural Brock Sport & Business eSports Networking Tournament positioned 24 students on teams captained by eight industry professionals.

Prizing was provided by Toronto Ultra (Toronto’s professional Call of Duty franchise) while moderation and streaming was coordinated by club members.
